In a significant development, a Russian oil tanker, named Klade Nobel, has docked at the Karachi Port, laden with crude oil. The vessel dropped its anchor within the port limits, awaiting the finalization of the berthing plan.
The current anchorage location of the vessel is the Outer Anchorage, commonly known as the Karachi Port limits. All vessels initially arrive at the Outer Anchorage, from where a pilot from the Karachi Port Trust guides them through the port channel for berthing.
It is worth noting that the first Russian tanker carrying crude oil had arrived in Pakistan on June 11, 2023. The vessel, Pure Point, had docked at the Karachi Port with 45,000 metric tons of oil on board, spanning a length of 183 meters.
Upon the arrival of the first Russian tanker, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had also tweeted, expressing his joy and fulfilling yet another promise to the nation. He stated, “I am pleased to announce that I have fulfilled another commitment to the nation as the first Russian oil tanker has arrived in Karachi.”
