In a heart-wrenching plea, a courageous university student has vowed to take her own life unless justice is served against the perpetrators who brutally raped her and shamelessly shared videos of the crime on the Internet.
The distressing incident occurred in Ber Band Bullah Balochan, where the young MPhil student was drugged and sexually assaulted by a relative who had offered her a ride to her university in Multan. When she regained consciousness, she was horrified to discover that the heinous act had been recorded and photographed.
In a brave attempt to seek justice, the survivor reached out to the prime minister, chief justice of Pakistan, and inspector general of police, pleading for swift and stern action against the suspects. The Shehr Sultan police have already booked four suspects, three of whom have been identified, for rape, blackmail, and disseminating explicit content.
Tragically, the main suspect fled to Dubai, leaving the survivor at the mercy of his cohorts, including the brother of a police officer. These despicable individuals continued to exploit her vulnerability, subjecting her to further sexual assault and coercion.
The survivor’s plea has garnered attention, and there are hopes that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will step in to bring these criminals to justice, as they shared the abhorrent videos on social media platforms to blackmail and torment the victim.
This brave young woman’s struggle for justice and her cry for help highlight the urgent need for a safer society, where survivors of sexual violence can seek justice without fear. Let us unite and amplify her voice, ensuring that her tormentors are apprehended and justice is served.
