On the 9th and 10th of Muharram, mobile services will be suspended in 14 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as per a decision made by the provincial authorities.
During the 9th Muharram, residents of Peshawar’s Saddar, Andaroon Shehr, Pushtakhara, Nauthia, Hassan Ghari, Tahkal, and Pajaggi Road will experience a disruption in mobile services, according to official sources. On Ashura, the suspension of mobile services will extend until 9 PM in Andaroon Shehr Peshawar and Wadpagha.
In Mardan, mobile services will be suspended from 8 AM to 10 PM on Ashura, while Nowshera Cantonment will experience signal blockage during the 9th and 10th Muharram. Imambargahs around Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Haripur will also face mobile service disruption during the significant religious events.
Kohat City, Hangu, Karak, Bannu City, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, and Tank’s sensitive areas will not be exempt from the mobile service suspension either.
While landline and Wi-Fi internet services will remain operational, the decision aims to ensure public safety and security during these crucial days. Authorities hope the move will help maintain peace and avoid any untoward incidents.
