In a surprising move, the government has taken a remarkable step to alleviate the burden on pilgrims. Minister for Religious Affairs, Talha Mehmood, declared today that a staggering amount of over sixteen billion rupees will be returned to the hujjaj in a much-needed relief package.
Under this generous scheme, each pilgrim will receive a significant sum of 97,000 rupees. Minister Talha Mehmood emphasized that this disbursement became possible through the strict enforcement of austerity measures, ensuring financial prudence.
The overall package of the government’s scheme has now been reduced to 10,32,000 rupees, significantly easing the financial constraints on the pilgrims. Those who were provided accommodation away from Haram in Madinah will receive 111,000 rupees, and for those who didn’t receive train tickets, the amount will be increased to a total of 132,000 each.
The Minister announced that the pilgrims can expect the reimbursed amount to be credited directly to their bank accounts in the coming week, providing much-needed financial respite.
Minister Talha Mahmood also highlighted the efforts of his Ministry’s staff, with 78 percent of hujjaj accommodated near Haram and 63 percent receiving Mashair Train tickets. He further revealed that 47 percent of pilgrims stayed in old Mina, reflecting the dedication to facilitating a comfortable Hajj experience.
Looking ahead, the Minister disclosed that a quota of 179,000 has been secured for next year’s Hajj. To ease the financial burden on aspiring pilgrims, a plan is in the works to allow Hajj expenses to be paid in installments.
The announcement has been met with widespread appreciation and gratitude, as the government’s commitment to making the pilgrimage accessible to all shines through. This relief package stands as a testament to the nation’s dedication to supporting its citizens in their spiritual journey.
