The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken the decision to temporarily suspend the arrest warrants issued for PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the ongoing contempt case. The commission has summoned Imran Khan to face indictment on August 2, as per the written order of the July 25 hearing.
This development comes after Imran Khan made his first appearance before the electoral watchdog in nearly a year, demonstrating his willingness to address the case. The ECP had previously initiated contempt proceedings against Imran Khan, Asad Umar, and former information minister Chaudhry for alleged use of “intemperate” language against the chief election commissioner and the electoral watchdog.
Despite challenges in various high courts, the Supreme Court’s ruling allowed the ECP to continue the proceedings, leading to the recent decision to frame charges against the trio.
With the August 2 hearing on the horizon, all eyes are now on Imran Khan as the nation awaits the next chapter in this riveting legal saga.
