In the Indian state of Haryana’s district of Nuh, clashes erupted during a procession of Bhajan Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, resulting in 5 fatalities and several injuries. According to Indian media reports, the Haryana turmoil spread to villages and towns. In Gurugram, the Hindu extremists set multiple vehicles on fire and vandalized shops. In Gurgaon, last night, extremists attacked a mosque, leading to the martyrdom of the Deputy Imam.
Following the eruption of violence, internet services were suspended, and Section 144 was imposed in Haryana to control the situation. Educational institutions have also been shut down, and the state administration has requested additional forces from the central government.
In the aftermath, authorities have apprehended 1,200 individuals allegedly involved in the riots, and cases have been filed against 20 suspects. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Haryana has appealed to demonstrators to maintain peace.
