Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founders Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi have been granted bail in cases related to the May 9 incident.
The hearings regarding bail applications in the May 9 cases were conducted by Justice Malik Ijaz Asif of the anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi. Bail has been approved for Imran Khan in 12 cases, including the attack on GHQ and Army Museum.
The court stated that since all accused in the May 9 cases are on bail, there is no justification for detaining Imran Khan. Similarly, bail has been granted to PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi in 13 cases. However, despite the bail approval, Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi cannot be released as both leaders are convicted in the Saifur Rehman case.
Moreover, the court has ordered each accused in the May 9 cases to submit one lakh rupees as bail bonds. This decision marks a significant turn in the legal proceedings surrounding the May 9 incident, bringing relief to Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
