Aima Baig, the illustrious Pakistani songstress, has recently bared her soul about the dissolution of her engagement with actor Shahbaz Shigri. In a candid conversation during a guest appearance on the podcast ‘Excuse me,’ hosted by comedian and presenter Ahmed Ali Butt, Baig divulged the intricate reasons behind the demise of their relationship.
Baig conveyed that undisclosed issues had plagued their relationship, which she chose not to delve into further due to the involvement of certain individuals. She underscored the profound notion that marriage encompasses not just two individuals but two families. While both families shared an amicable relationship, personal conflicts persisted between Baig and Shigri, prompting her to make the difficult decision to call off the engagement—a decision primarily her own.
“There was a misalignment between us,” Baig expressed with poignant sincerity, rationalizing her choice to end the relationship. However, when she announced the split on social media, she encountered a wave of misunderstanding from the public, who unfairly directed criticism solely towards her, leaving Shigri unscathed.
Delving into the aftermath of the broken engagement and grappling with online trolling, Baig revealed how her family shielded her from the onslaught of social media backlash. Nonetheless, she keenly felt the negativity surrounding her and lamented how the trolling not only disrupted her mental peace but also brought unwarranted criticism upon her family members.
“Such trolling not only jeopardized my career and mental well-being but also cast a shadow on the reputation of my parents, siblings, and relatives,” expressed Baig with palpable emotion.
Concluding her heartfelt narrative, Baig shared the toll the ordeal exacted on her mental health, bravely confessing to grappling with thoughts of despair amidst the tumult in her life.
