Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Cell has apprehended four suspects, including an Afghan national, outside the Passport Office in Karachi. The arrests come as a part of the FIA’s ongoing efforts to curb the forgery and misuse of Pakistani passports and identity cards.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the main suspect, identified as Mujibullah, is an Afghan national whose real name is Zardad. He had obtained a Pakistani identity card under the name of Mujibullah through fraudulent means. The spokesperson further revealed that the Afghan national had attempted to acquire a Pakistani passport with the help of facilitators and agents.
The FIA has launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter, and the arrested individuals, including agents and facilitators, are being interrogated. The spokesperson named the other suspects as Hamad Ahmed, Muhammad Anees, and Ghulam Abbas, all of whom were allegedly involved in the illegal passport racket.
Mujibullah, the Afghan national, had entered Pakistan illegally a few months ago to seek medical treatment for his mother. During his stay, he managed to obtain a Pakistani identity card under a different name through fraudulent means, further complicating the case.
