Justice Munib Akhtar has taken the oath as the acting Chief Justice, as Justice Yahya Afridi assumes responsibilities from Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, during his overseas visit.
The oath-taking ceremony, held in the committee room of the Supreme Court, saw the presence of Supreme Court judges and senior lawyers. Notably, with Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and the most senior judge, Mansoor Ali Shah, currently abroad, Justice Munib Akhtar stepped in to fulfill the duties of the acting Chief Justice.
This seamless transition in leadership underscores the resilience and adaptability of the Pakistani judicial system, ensuring continuity and efficiency even in the absence of key figures. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa is expected to remain abroad until May 25, as he participates in the Chief Justices’ Conference of ECO countries in Azerbaijan.
