According to reports from various international media outlets, Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson for Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, revealed that Hamas fighters successfully executed an ambush on Israeli forces in the mountainous terrain of Gaza. During the engagement, Hamas militants purportedly inflicted casualties upon Israeli soldiers, with some being killed and others taken as prisoners.
Abu Ubaida detailed that Hamas fighters meticulously planned the ambush within a tunnel, strategically positioning themselves to confront the Zionist army. The ensuing skirmish resulted in the deaths and injuries of several Israeli soldiers, while Hamas claims to have detained additional troops.
However, precise figures regarding the number of Israeli soldiers purportedly captured by Hamas remain undisclosed, as stated by the spokesperson.
In response to Hamas’ assertions, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have refuted claims of their soldiers being taken captive by the Palestinian group.
The recent developments add to the already volatile situation in the region, marked by ongoing violence and unrest. Since October 7, over 35,000 Palestinians, including numerous civilians, have tragically lost their lives in Israeli attacks, underscoring the severity of the conflict.
