A cylinder explosion in a shop in Hyderabad’s Preetabad area has left more than 25 people severely injured, with fears of fatalities looming.
The explosion, which occurred late in the evening, was so intense that it not only ravaged the shop but also engulfed the residential unit above it. Rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and initiated emergency response operations. The injured were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Witnesses described the blast as terrifying, with its shockwaves felt throughout the surrounding buildings, causing considerable panic among residents. The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, but initial reports suggest it was a cylinder malfunction. The blast’s impact was so severe that nearby structures trembled, adding to the chaos and fear in the vicinity.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hyderabad, Dr. Farrukh Lanjar, addressed the media, confirming that 25 individuals had been admitted to the hospital, three of whom are in critical condition. Dr. Lanjar emphasized the dangers posed by illegal gas cylinder shops, likening them to “walking bombs.” He announced that a crackdown on unauthorized cylinder vendors would be initiated and that he would be discussing the matter with the Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad to prevent future tragedies.
Authorities are currently investigating the precise cause of the explosion. Preliminary findings have not yet revealed the exact reason behind the incident, but thorough investigations are underway to ascertain the facts.
