Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has issued a defamation notice to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. The notice, delivered through Gandapur’s legal counsel, accuses Kundi of making unfounded allegations during a television program. These allegations suggested that Gandapur had signed the draft for Operation Azm-e-Istikham during an Apex Committee meeting.
The notice demands that Governor Kundi retract his statements and issue a public apology within seven days. If he fails to comply, he will face a lawsuit demanding Rs. 1000 million in damages for defamation, loss of reputation, and mental anguish.
Gandapur’s legal notice outlines his esteemed reputation as a law-abiding and responsible citizen of Pakistan, highlighting his long-standing service and dedication to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It underscores his significant role within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and his unwavering commitment to his constituents and the province.
The Chief Minister refutes the Governor’s accusations, emphasizing that he has never signed any document related to Operation Azm-e-Istikham without proper consultation. The notice clarifies that any policy decisions of such magnitude would have involved discussions with the provincial cabinet and senior party leadership. Gandapur stresses that he operates transparently, taking on board the provincial assembly and his cabinet for all major decisions.
