The United States has officially declared its intent to defend Israel, with President Joe Biden issuing orders to place U.S. forces in the Middle East on high alert. Amid rising tensions in the region, Biden directed the Pentagon to ensure the readiness of American troops, with over 40,000 soldiers now on standby.
President Biden’s move emphasizes the U.S.’s support for Israel, instructing the Pentagon to prepare its forces for any potential conflict. The announcement comes in response to growing instability in the region, where the threat of escalation looms large.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also reaffirmed the country’s commitment to protecting both Israeli and American forces stationed in the Middle East. Blinken issued a stern warning to Iran and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, stating that any attempt to harm U.S. military assets would lead to “severe consequences.”
Speaking at a press conference in New York, Blinken highlighted the growing uncertainty in the region. “Given the ongoing tensions, the situation could spiral into something much worse,” he warned, signaling the possibility of further escalation.
With the Middle East already a tinderbox, the U.S.’s military involvement could add more fuel to the fire, further complicating efforts to bring peace to the region.
