PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) has moved an adjournment motion in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly against the rising incidence of terrorism and ‘targeted killings’ in the province.
The adjournment motion, filed by provincial general secretary and parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak, said that the normal proceedings should be stopped and a discus this most important issue.

The motion said that the incidents of terrorism across the province have raised more questions about the government of claims of eliminating terrorism by breaking the backbone of terrorism. “For a long time now, terrorism has devastated the economic and business environment of the province. The law and order situation has reduced or eliminated the possibility of foreign investment,” the adjournment motion said.
The adjournment motion furthered alleged that investors and industrialists of the province have been forced to relocate their capital to other parts of the country or abroad due to targeted killings and extortion. “Unemployment and crimes rate has been on the rise. The purchasing power of the people has been depleted, poverty has increased exponentially. The time has come to take practical and serious steps to eradicate terrorism and restore stability,” the adjournment motion said.
In meeting with the delegation of Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the ANP central leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that terrorists were reorganizing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and there is an urgent need to implement the National Action Plan (NAP). He added that the situation in Afghanistan has direct impacts on Pakistan, especially on KP and today terrorists are once again preparing to launch attacks across the country.
