Senate passes University of Islamabad Bill, 2020
ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Wednesday passed a bill for the establishment of University of Islamabad to bring immense social benefits for the local population of the twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi and their adjoining areas.
The bill –the University of Islamabad Bill, 2019 – was moved by Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood.
The university would provide education and scholarships in such branches of knowledge as it may deem fit, and to make provision for research, service to society and for the application, advancement and dissemination of knowledge in such a manner as it may determine in accordance with the guidelines of the professional accreditation councils. - APP
