Karachi vs Multan match abandoned as rain comes to Sultans’ rescue
Statesman Report
LAHORE: The match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans on Friday was abandoned due to rain.
The interruption happened when the Sultans were 102/6 in 16.5 overs.
Both the teams were awarded a point each which was a bonus for Multan as they were in a terrible position when the rain hit and would have likely lost had the match been completed.
Multan Sultans are 53-4 at the end of 10 overs against Karachi Kings in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 fixture at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
Earlier, Kings had won the toss and had opted to field first.
Sultans' Moeen Ali was sent back to the pavilion in the fifth over, managing 29 runs from 21 balls.
Sultans, who have won four of their five matches so far, have eight points, two ahead of third-placed Kings who are buoyed after winning against former champions Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi respectively.
Multan Sultans are participating in the PSL since 2018 and secured fifth position in the last two editions, while Karachi Kings are taking part in PSL since its inception and have achieved third place in two successive years (2017 and 2018) and were placed fourth in 2016 and 2019.
In the current tournament, both teams have already played each other once on February 28 in Multan, where the hosts beat Karachi by 52 runs.
