2m applications received under Naya Pakistan Housing Project, NA told
ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan Friday informed the National Assembly that two million applications had so far been received for affordable housing units under Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP).
Responding to a question during Question hour, he said under this mega project, loans would be given to the poorest segment of the society to build their houses without charging any interest from them as the government will incur this cost.
He said that the last date for registration by NADRA for Naya Pakistan Housing Authority project was January 15, 2020 and all the valid registered applications will be included in the ballot for the allotment of low cost houses as and when housing projects will get initiated.
Responding to another question, he said that the person granted ministerial status was only entitled to salary, allowances and privileges which were normally available to federal ministers and ministers of state under the federal Ministers and Ministers of State (Salaries, Allowances and Privileges) Act 1975.
Parliamentary Secretary for Education Wajiha Akram said that despite economic constraints, promotion of education including higher education was priority of the government.
She said that initiatives such as Kamyab Jawan and Ehsaas Programs also envisaged steps for promotion of education.
Responding to another question, she said that most of the buses which were provided in the year 2017-18 to the educational institutions under Prime Minister’s Education Reform Program (PMERP) were working in good condition.
She said that these buses were used for providing pick and drop facility to students of schools and colleges. However, she said that few buses were non-functional due to non-availability of drivers, conductors and funds.
She said that no funds were allocated to educational institutions for the maintenance of these new buses.
However, she said, institutions retaining older buses were provided with budgetary allocation on yearly basis. - APP
