Relief Dept suggests steps for regulation of home quarantine
PESHAWAR: The Relief and Rehabilitation Department on Tuesday suggested steps for the regulation of home quarantine to make them more effective and safe.
The department suggested that home quarantine should have proper facilities for a group of at least 200 people.
Besides, it said all departments situated near the quarantine should be closed if a large number of people are kept in the quarantine.
The Relief Department further said that to streamline the affairs of home quarantine a committee should be constituted under the headship of the Secretary Home Department.
The department has also devised a strategy for the establishment and functioning of checkpoints for all international, national and domestic movements.
The Relief department continues fumigation against locust in various districts of the province to protect crops from further destruction.
The spokesman of Relief Department said that 36 teams of the department have been conducting fumigation in districts Lakki, DI Khan, Tank, Orakzai and other areas in collaboration with district administration and line departments.
He said that apart from this the farmers and locals were also being sensitized about preventive measures, adding that fumigation teams would remain in affected areas till elimination of locust.
He said so far no loss of crops was reported from any area of the district. Meanwhile, Department of Agriculture Extension in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organisation conducted an awareness workshop on locust for farmers and landowners, where the focal person of FAO informed the participants about effective preventive measures to protect crops from locust attack. - APP
