Pakistani UN peacekeeper martyred in Darfur

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistani peacekeeper, Lance Naik Adil Jan, serving with the United Nations Mission in Darfur, Sudan embraced martyrdom while on duty, according to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

“Lance Naik Adil Jan, FC Balochistan, age 38 years, resident of Lakki Marwat, was part of UN mission at Darfur [which is] responsible for [the] protection of civilians and facilitating humanitarian assistance,” the military’s media wing stated.

At least 161 Pakistani peacekeepers have been martyred while serving on global peacekeeping missions for international peace and stability, the ISPR added.
