IGP terms Elite Force as backbone of Police force
PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi Monday said that Elite Force was the backbone of police force and its jawans have set rich traditions of professional commitment and devotion to duty for the internal security of the country.
This, he said, while distributing cash prizes and commendation certificates among the Elite force jawans in a ceremony held at Elite Police Training Center Hakeem Abad Nowshera.
The police chief informed that the Elite force jawans have proved their mettle against terrorists and saboteurs in a short span of time since its establishment and its short history is full of sacrifices and professional commitment.
He pointed out that the whole country particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was confronting the challenges and menace of terrorism for the last few years.
He, however, said that Elite force jawans inflicted heavy losses to the terrorists and succeeded in flushing them out and thus kept the province safe to a large extent.
The IGP informed that Elite Force was one of the best units of the police force and its jawans have rendered unprecedented sacrifices for the prevention of terrorist activities.
He also thanked Pak Army and other Law Enforcing Agencies for their sacrifices and important role against the terrorists.
He said that FATA merger was possible due to collective wisdom and efforts of the whole nation and now Levies and Khasadars have become permanent part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.
The IGP added that the services of round about 10 thousands Special Police Officers (SPOs) were regularized and the SHOs have given Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) powers and termed it an important step towards best policing.
Similarly, 126 heirs of shuhada were recruited as ASI and 575 sons or daughters were given jobs on deceased quota in police.
Earlier, the IGP distributed cash prizes and commendation certificates amongst the Elite police jawans on their outstanding performance.
