Aisam to represent Pakistan in IOC’s ‘Largest Global Online Workout’
Karachi: Pakistan’s tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi will represent Pakistan in ‘Largest Global Online Workout’ organized under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to commemorate Olympic Day on June 23.
“June 23 is celebrated as Olympic Day to cherish the birth of modern Olympics as envisioned by Pierre de Coubertin. The festivity on the day includes sports, cultural and artistic activities by masses. This time to the global Olympic family is celebrating the day by organizing the ‘Largest Global Online Workout’ under the auspices of IOC (as Covid-19 pandemic has made it impossible to hold traditional festivities on the day),” Secretary Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Khalid Mehmood said.
“The athletes will collaborate within the virtual space to demonstrate their workout to foster the Olympism and recognizing that the SPORTS has become more important than ever to combat the pandemic on the biggest digital platform. Aisam will represent Pakistan in the global workout,” he added.
Mehmood added that Pakistan athletes, sports leaders and people should attend the live session on the official Olympics social media channels.
He added POA will continue till July 5 and participants will be awarded with the internationally recognized certificate of participation. POA will also organize digital classes where national champions including World Champion Muhammad Inam will share their valuable sporting knowledge with students and youngsters of different schools. - PPI
