Police repulse terrorist attack on checkpost in Tehsil Speen
PESHAWAR: Police repulsed a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Tati Madda Khel area, Tehsil Speen near Pak-Afghan border, late night on Sunday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Azam Khan told media that a group of terrorists armed with atomic weapons stormed the checkpost during the night but police personnel manning the checkpost thwarted the terrorist bid.
He said that terrorists managed to escape while taking advantage of the darkness after facing strong resistance from the police.
He said that Pak-Army and police force have launched joint search operation in the area to apprehend the culprits.
Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur has appreciated DSP Azam Khan and his team for their bravery and successfully repulsing the attack. He expressed his resolve that no opportunity would be given to terrorists to become reorganized in South Waziristan.
He said that South Waziristan would be kept free from terrorists with help of Police and Pak-army. He said that Pak-army and Police were standing side by side to uphold peace in the area.
CTD foils terrorism bid
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday foiled a terrorism bid and recovered two suicide jackets, four kg explosive material, ball bearings and other materials during a raid at an under-construction house in Peshawar’s suburbs.
According to CTD officials, the raid was conducted on a tip-off after which a team of CTD reached the spot and took the explosive material into custody.
He said that the alleged terrorists fled from the scene before the CTD team reached on the spot, however informed that investigation was being carried out and soon the culprits would be arrested. - APP
