ICC ODI Rankings Kohli loses points, Taylor, Quinton de Kock gain
DUBAI: The Indian captain Virat Kohli registered his lowest tally in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which India lost 0-3. Kohli could only manage 75 runs in the three matches at 25 and thus lost 17 points in the rankings. This was Kohli’s worse ever three-match series. The right-hander is still at the numero uno position but now has 869 points under his belt. Furthermore, Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma has lost 13 points as he missed the series due to injury.
On the other hand, India’s ace paceman Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless in the three-match ODI series. Thus, Bumrah has lost his numero uno position in the ICC ODI bowlers rankings. This was the first time when a wicket evaded Bumrah in a three-match series. New Zealand premier pacer Trent Boult who missed the series due to injury has now claimed the top position in the bowler’s rankings.
Meanwhile, Ross Taylor who was awarded the Player of the Series has gained one place in the ODI rankings. Taylor now takes the fourth place in the rankings table.
On the other side, Quinton de Kock has made a gain of two places to take seventh place in the rankings ladder. The southpaw batsman scored 187 runs in the three-match ODI series against England and he was also awarded the Man of the Series award.
Australia’s gun pacer Mitchell Starc has also made a jump of two places to take the eighth position in the rankings.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s Faf du Plessis slips to the fifth position in the rankings. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson who missed the first two ODIs due to injury also slips by one place to take the eighth rank. England’s talisman batsman Joe Root is now placed at the ninth position and also slipped by one place. – Agencies
