IHC seeks reply from respondents

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday sought reply from respondents in a case pertaining to illegal appointment of former managing director Pakistan Television Attaul Haq Qasmi and recovery of Rs190 million.

The court directed former finance minister Ishaq Dar, Pervaiz Rasheed, Fawad Hassan Fawad and Attaul Haq Qasmi to submit their replies till next date.

Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani conducted hearing on a petition seeking recovery of Rs190 million in line of illegal appointment of Attaul Haq Qasmi as managing director PTV under the decision of Supreme Court dated November 8, 2018.

During the course of proceeding, the lawyer of Pakistan Television apprised the bench that an advertisement had been given in an international English newspaper for summon’s implementation to former finance minister Ishaq Dar.

He requested the court to grant sometime to submit a copy of the advertisement.

The counsel for Fawad Hassan Fawad, Shamshad Cheema argued that a review petition in the same case was pending before the top court.

He said that he wanted to file a request to stop the case proceeding until the review petition was decided.

The bench sought reply from respondents till May 6, and adjourned haring of the case.

It may be mentioned here that the Supreme Court had declared the appointment of Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi as Managing Director and Chairman of Pakistan Television as illegal and without any lawful effect. – APP
