SC issues notices in King Hamad University case
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Secretary National Health and Services, and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in a case regarding the King Hamad University.
A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, the CJP observed that the Qatar government had donated Rs 10 billion some 10 years ago. Whether the land was allotted for the construction of CDA Hospital, he asked.
He asked the Deputy Prosecutor General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as to what NAB had to do with the case.
The deputy prosecutor said there had been corruption and irregularities in the award of built-up property.
The CJP then asked as to what did NAB want from the court. The deputy prosecutor said the court had barred the Bureau from working on the case.
The chief justice observed that NAB should not work on the case till the hospital’s construction. He asked the Mayor Islamabad as to why the land was not provided for the hospital till date. The mayor responded that he had appeared in the court in another case, while the instant case was related to the CDA. – APP
