PTV chairman, MD, BoD members appointments challenged
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday served notices to respondents in a petition challenging the appointments of managing director, chairman and four private members of Pakistan Television (PTV)’s board of director (BoD).
Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani heard the case filed by a citizen Muhammad Shafi through his counsel Umair Baloch against the appointments in the state-run television channel.
The court sought para-wise reply from principal secretary to the prime minister, cabinet division, information ministry and other respondents till the next hearing.
The petitioner’s counsel pleaded before the bench that legal procedure was not adopted in the appointments of the managing director Aamer Manzor and chairman Arshad Khan in PTV. The appointments of private members including Rashid Ali Khan, Zubail A Khaliq, Farmanullah Jan and Ali Bokhari were also against the law, he claimed and said the decision was not implemented as per top court’s orders.
The petitioner prayed the court to issue orders for the reconstruction of PTV’s board of directors and to declare the appointments of chairman, PTV managing director and other members as null and void. – APP
