LHC issues notice to govt on plea against amendments in kite flying act
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued notice to Punjab government on a petition challenging amendments made in the kite flying act.
LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh issued notice on a petition filed by a citizen.
The petitioner’s counsel argued before the court that the amendments were made in kite flying act in 2009. He submitted that under the amendments, the government banned kite flying in the province. He submitted that the ban caused damage to the business which affected thousands of people in Lahore, Gujranwala and Kasur. The counsel submitted that the step was a violation of fundamental rights and pleaded with the court to declare the amendments as unconstitutional.
The court, after recording initial arguments, issued notice to the Punjab government and sought reply while adjourning the further hearing. – APP
