SHC orders NAB to complete inquiry into ex-law minister’s assets
KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to complete inquiry into the assets of former Sindh minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and others as soon as possible.
A SHC bench directed the NAB to submit a progress report in this regard by December 24 and to extended the interim bail granted to Lanjar, Khan Bahadur and Hassan Effendi till the next hearing. Lanjar and other accused have been out on bail since 2017.
The NAB prosecutor stated that the NAB’s regional office had sent the inquiry request for approval to the NAB headquarters which had returned it by raising objections. He said the NAB was now conducting the inquiry in light of those objections so it wanted more time for completing it.
At the previous hearing, the prosecutor had stated that the NAB had got more evidence against Lanjar as it had traced his benami property in Sakrand. - PPI
