Wapda, NBP to lock horns in Sr Hockey C’ship final

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Wapda and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) would lock horns in the final of the 66th Edition of the National Senior Hockey Championship to be played at Mari Petroleum Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park, Rawalpindi on Friday.

The winning team would be awarded a cash prize of Rs 3,00,000 while the runner-up team will get Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 1,00,000 will be given to the third team. The best player would take away a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

In the first semifinal played on Thursday, NBP beat Sui Southern. Abu Bakar and Arsalan Qadir scored one goal each for NBP while Mubashir Ali and Ali Shan scored one goal each for Sui Southern, after which the shootout was played which also ended in a draw. The final decision was made on sudden death strokes, which was won by NBP by 6-5.
