PESHAWAR: Pakistan whitewashed test series against Bangladesh after defeating “tigers” in the rain-hit Test match in Dhaka on Wednesday.
On the last day of the second Test match – that was otherwise headed for a certain draw – Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by an innings and eight wickets. In the second innings, four Bangladeshi batsmen returned to the pavilion with a total score of 25. After that Mushfiqur Rahim and Lytton Das supported the team and increased the team’s score to 98 runs.

But Das’s innings came to an end as he fell victim to Sajid Khan after scoring 45 runs. Veteran all-rounders Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim tried their best to pull the team out of the defeat. They batted responsibly made a crucial partnership of 49 runs, but Rahim returned to pavilion after scoring 48 runs.
Mehdi Hassan formed a 51-run partnership with Shakib Al Hasan. However, after making 14 runs, he got out on the ball of Babar Azam. Shakib Al Hasan also fell victim to Sajid Khan after playing a brilliant innings of 63 runs. In just six overs, Sajid Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi guided the other three Bangladesh batsmen to the pavilion, leaving the hosts with a 213-run deficit.
On the fourth day of the game, Pakistan declared their first innings at 300 four four. Azhar Ali, captain Babar Azam, Fawad Alam and Mohammad Rizwan scored half centuries for Pakistan. When Pakistan resumed the innings on Tuesday morning, Babar Azam and Azhar Ali were batting. However, Azam was dismissed for 76 while Ali scored 56 runs. Mohammad Rizwan (53) and Fawad Alam (50) were on the crease when Pakistan declared the innings at 300 for four.
It may be recalled that due to rain on Saturday and Sunday, the first two days of the Test match could be played for only 63 overs while the game could not be played on Monday due to heavy rain.
Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat first.
