PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sought the Pakistan Army’s services for by-local government election in Lakki Marwat on 13 February. The election was postponed in these constituencies due to deteriorated law and order situation on 18 December, last year.
Daily Mashriq has reported that during the re-polling on February 13, more than 500 police personnel will be on duty to ensure security, law and order on at 23 polling stations. The polling stations have been declared high sensitive and the deployment of additional personnel was aimed to prevent any untoward situation.

The officials said that the services of Quick response force (QRF), Frontier Constabulary and Pakistan Army have also been called for maintaining law and order in the district on the election day so that the voters can visit polling stations without any fear and danger. Sources also said that Bomb Disposal Squad experts have also been called in.
The sources said that for the peaceful elections, the district has been divided into four sectors and six sub-sectors, besides; concrete and practical steps have been taken to ensure implementation of the Electoral Code of Conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Yesterday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ordered the expulsion of Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur from the Dera Ismail Khan district for violating the polls code of conduct till election on 13 February. The notification said that despite repeated notices, Gandapur was campaigning for his brother on the city mayoral seat. The ECP has also ordered the police for the arrest of Pakistan Peoples Party member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly Ahmed Karim Kundi over the Election code violations and produce him before the ECP on 4 February.
