PESHAWAR: The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has said that the global outrage over the missing Afghan women activists have been conveyed to the Taliban de facto foreign minister who has assured of efforts to resolve issue.
The UNAMA said that it will continue to engage Taliban for the welfare and rights of all Afghans.
According to the United Nations, human rights Parwana Ibrahimkhel and Tamana Zaryab Paryani were abducted on January 19 and Mursal Ayar and Zahra Mohammadi were arrested last week. However, the Taliban have not yet confirmed the arrests.

Over the past few days, Lines has met with a number of senior officials, including Taliban Interior Minister Siraj Haqqani, to recover the missing girls. The UNAMA said in a brief statement that Muttaqi have been informed of the anger of the international community over missing women’s rights activists.
UNAMA said in a statement that Amir Khan Muttaqi had assured the UN envoy that efforts will be made to resolve the issue. “UNAMA welcomes his constructive approach and will continue to work with the Taliban for the rights and well-being of all Afghans,” said the statement.
This is at least the 5th announced meeting of UN envoys with Taliban leaders in Kabul in recent days to seek clarification on the fate of women’s rights activists. Over the past few days, Deborah Lines has met with the Taliban’s interior minister, Abdul Salam Hanafi, the deputy prime minister, and Maulvi Abdul Kabir. A statement from UNAMA after the meeting warned that provision of international cooperation will not be possible without protecting women rights.
Women’s rights activists and the families said they the activists were arrested by the Taliban, but the Taliban deny allegations, saying that they are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the UN human rights body demanded the release of women activists who were arrested or abducted following protests for women’s rights. The group said it did not know the whereabouts of the women arrested after participating in a protest on January 16 and called on the Taliban to immediately release them.
