PESHAWAR: All the 52 polling stations in Bakakhel and Domail tehsils of Bannu district have been declared “most sensitive” ahead of re-election on 13 February.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has said that 3,080 police personnel would be deployed and more forces will be on high alert in case of any emergency. The police informed that a total of 36 vehicles of the Quick Response Force (QRF) will also patrol the district through throughout the day.

Briefing the media, the District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu Imran Shahid said that preparations have been completed for re-election at 45 polling stations in Bakakhel and 7 polling stations in Domail. He said that more than 3,000 police personnel will be deployed at each polling station to ensure free and transparent election. In addition, the DPO informed, women police personnel will be deployed at the polling stations.
The DPO said that the police will take custody of all polling stations from today [Saturday] and Elite Force will be patrolling to provide security to the election process and staff.
The election campaign for the re-polling of the first phase of local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ended at 12 midnight and re-polling will be held on February 13 at different polling stations in 13 districts of the province including Peshawar.
According to the Provincial Election Commission, re-polling will be held on February 13 at various polling stations in 13 districts including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera and Mardan for which arrangements have been completed. The ECP said a total of 710,472 voters will exercise their right to franchise in the re-polling of which 362,924 are male and 347,548 are female voters.
The Secretary Election Commission Omar Hameed Khan urged the KP government to beef up security for the Local Government (LG) re-polling in 12 districts of the province on 13 May. He has urged to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras in polling stations and increase the number of other security personnel, besides police.
