PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Umar Amin Gandapur was elected Dera Ismail Khan City Mayor with huge lead.
According to unofficial results, Umar Amin Gandapur got 63,753 votes, Kafil Nizami of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Islam (JUI-F) got 38,891 votes and Faisal Karim Kundi of PPP came third.

During re-polling in Tehsil Council Nowshera, Pervez Khattak’s son Muhammad Ishaq Khan Khattak secured 49310 votes, Hakim Ali Khel of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami came second with 41051 votes and Ahad Khan Khattak of Pakistan Peoples Party was at third number with 33409 votes.
In Bajaur, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam candidate Haji Syed Badshah was elected chairman of Tehsil Council Khar with 18775 votes. Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Haroon Al-Rasheed was second with 18243 votes.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja said thanked the security institutions for conducting re-polling process peacefully in all sensitive areas. The re-polling was held in constituencies in 13 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ECP Commissioner appreciated the cooperation of Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and police personnel and provincial government in completing the re-polling process. He said, “These elections will prove to be important for strengthening democratic values in Pakistan.”
All the 52 polling stations in Bakakhel and Domail tehsils of Bannu district have been declared “most sensitive” ahead of re-election on 13 February. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has said that 3,080 police personnel would be deployed and more forces will be on high alert in case of any emergency. The police informed that a total of 36 vehicles of the Quick Response Force (QRF) will also patrol the district through throughout the day.
