PESHAWAR: The Khyber Medical University (KMU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq has said that the University is not only providing educational facilities to Afghan students but will also open KMU’s offshore campus in Kabul in the near future.
Haq said that the initial approval of the campus has been granted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the KMU Syndicate.

He was talking with a delegation of the Consulate General ofIslamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Peshawar, led by Mufti Noorullah. The VC informed that best education facilities will be provided to Afghan students at their doorstep. The VC said that KMU is currently providing higher education opportunities to thousands of Afghan students. “Our doors are open to Afghan students. KMU’s Offshore Peace (Main) to provide higher education opportunities in Pakistan’s educational institutions as well as in Kabul and other Afghan cities.”
He urged the delegation of the Islamic Emirate to take up the issue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan through the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to put this proposed project into practice.
One of the major issues faced by Afghan students is admission fee. The KP government recently increased admission fee for foreign students by 100% – earlier, it was Rs413, 209 but now it has been increased to Rs800, 000 per annum. He assured the delegation that he would request the KP government to reduce admission fee in KMU for Afghan students.
He assured that issue faced by female students will also be resolved on priority basis. The Afghan delegations, headed Mufti Noorullah, thanked the government of Pakistan, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for providing education facilities to Afghan students in the prestigious medical colleges of the province.
