PESHAWAR: The Balochistan Government has closed all public and private educational institutions in Quetta for two days while matriculation examinations have also been postponed due to security threats.
According to a statement issued by the provincial education department, all public and private educational institutions in Quetta – including University of Balochistan – will remain closed for two days from today [17 March].

The statement further said that the matriculation examinations to be held in Quetta today and tomorrow have also been postponed. According to a statement, issued by the provincial home department, the institutions were closed after intelligence agencies reported possible terror attacks on education institutions. Security has been beefed up at Quetta, Sibi, Machh and Chaman railway stations.
Similarly, Emergency has been declared in all major hospitals of the province. Forces in Quetta and Gwadar have been ordered to remain alert till March 22 to deal with any situation. According to the Home Department, Railway police has also issued directions to maintain security at railway stations in Balochistan. However, railway police said that the security of railway stations has been beefed up due to the recent wave of terrorism.
