Arshad Sharif’s murder was a case of “mistaken identity”, Kenyan Government
According to the Kenyan authorities, Arshad Sharif’s death was a case of “mistaken identity”. The deceased was shot dead when he sped past a barrier and did not stop for the police.
According to the report, the police were searching for a car the same as the deceased’s that was involved in the abduction of a child. Upon asking them to stop, Arshad Sharif, along with his brother, refused and fled. The police opened fire. Arshad Sharif was shot dead in the car.
Arshad Sharif had left Pakistan after he was expected to get arrested for making hostile remarks about Pakistan’s security forces. The deceased was last seen in Dubai and then England, after which his whereabouts were unknown.
The Kenyan government has expressed their deep condolences on the death of one of Pakistan’s most renowned journalists. The concerned Kenyan authorities ensure that the rapid response team of Kenya has started their investigation into the matter. All the required action will be taken against the persons responsible for the death of the departed.
