A local court in Lahore on Wednesday approved the transitory remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Fawad Chaudhry, after he was presented before the court by Islamabad Police.
The very calm and composed Fawad Chaudhry, senior leadership member of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, spoke to the media outside the courts. Addressing the nation, Fawad stated that he had been arrested because he rebelled against the ECP. Rebellion is the need of time and every person in the country is bound to rebel against the corrupt system that prevails in Pakistan, he added.
The senior PTI leadership further stated that they are not afraid of the cuffs and shackles. These are the jewels that speak of their efforts to acquire true freedom.
The former federal minister was arrested from his residence in the wee hours today on the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) complaint. The report claimed that Chaudhry condemned the government for hashing out what he called a conspiracy with the electoral body to arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The arrest comes just hours after Fawad, in a press conference in Lahore, had warned members of the ECP, their family members and others of vindictive measures if “those involved in 25th May incident – police crackdown to stop PTI expedition to Islamabad – were appointed or remain appointed.”
