Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has taken a bold move to consolidate his leadership within the party, a decision that has been seen as a response to recent infighting within the PTI.
Khan’s removal of several long-time central figures has been viewed as a way to cement his power and implement sweeping changes within the party’s structure. Khan’s decisions, however, have not gone uncontested, with some factions of the party calling out the Chairman’s methods and questioning his political motivations.
Despite this, Khan seems determined to push ahead with his ambitious plans, which go beyond just a purge of the party’s leadership. The PTI’s social media presence is also set to undergo a dramatic revamp, with the team receiving orders to update significant communication channels such as Twitter, Telegram, Instagram, and WhatsApp groups. Only time will tell if Khan’s moves will lead to a more unified PTI, or if they will end up further dividing the party and creating more issues for the Chairman to address.
