The entire city of Peshawar witnessed a harrowing wave of power outages, shattering the false promise of uninterrupted electricity during the festive season. The capital and its surrounding areas were plunged into the darkness of load shedding, leaving its residents in despair.
The people of Charsadda Road took to the streets, vehemently protesting against the prolonged power cuts. With roads barricaded and traffic at a standstill, the protesters demanded immediate action to alleviate their suffering.
A significant number of citizens participated in the demonstrations, their voices echoing with anger and frustration. Shouts of defiance filled the air as protesters expressed their deep disappointment in both the government and PESCO (Peshawar Electric Supply Company).
Amid scorching heat, the determined protesters held their ground, sacrificing their comfort to make their voices heard. For twelve to sixteen agonizing hours each day, Peshawar’s residents were deprived of electricity, turning their lives into a never-ending struggle.
The situation became dire as the lack of power also resulted in a shortage of clean drinking water in the area, leaving the demonstrators even more exasperated.
The false promise of an uninterrupted power supply during the joyous occasion of Eid had transformed into a heart-wrenching ordeal for the people of Peshawar. Their plight serves as a painful reminder of the everyday challenges they face.
It is now imperative for the authorities to address the grave issue of load shedding in Peshawar, taking immediate steps to provide relief to its suffering residents. The city deserves better, and its people deserve to celebrate without enduring such hardships.
