The Taliban government has ordered the suspension of all Swedish activities in Afghanistan in response to the incident of Quran blasphemy in Sweden. A statement has been issued by Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, stating that until an official apology is made for the blasphemy of the Quran and the disrespect of Muslim beliefs, all Swedish activities in Afghanistan will remain suspended.
The Taliban spokesperson further stated that all government institutions in Afghanistan are bound to implement this order. The statement also called upon other Muslim countries to reconsider their relations with Sweden in light of this condemnable act. Prior to this, the Houthi authorities in Yemen had announced a ban on Swedish imports in response to the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
According to international media reports, the Houthi authorities, who control northern Yemen, imposed a ban on Swedish imports in protest against the disrespect shown to the Quran Kareem, demanding a strict prohibition on Swedish goods.
