In a significant move, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that Umrah pilgrims coming from abroad must obtain an insurance policy. According to the ministry, insurance coverage is now included in the Umrah visa, with the policy addressing immediate health issues, COVID-19, accidents, death, and even flight cancellations.
The insurance policy provides coverage for damages up to one hundred thousand riyals. It encompasses an array of benefits, including hospitalization, emergency medical conditions, traffic accidents, critical dialysis, and access to domestic and international air ambulances.
The ministry emphasizes that the insurance policy encompasses thirteen major benefits, covering complete disability, temporary disability, temporary conditions leading to death, death due to natural disasters, transporting the deceased’s body, and costs incurred from court rulings.
This move aims to ensure the safety and well-being of Umrah pilgrims, offering them peace of mind during their spiritual journey to the holy sites.
