The OceanGate Titanic submersible tragedy, which claimed the lives of five billionaires, is now the subject of a forthcoming film titled ‘Salvaged.’ The incident, which gripped the world, left the global community in mourning as rescue efforts tragically failed, leading to the loss of all souls on board, including the founder, Stockton Rush.
‘Salvaged,’ the film in development, promises to shed light on the heart-wrenching incident that unfolded beneath the ocean’s depths. The movie is spearheaded by producer E. Brian Dobbins, in collaboration with his company, MindRiot Entertainment. Intriguingly, Dobbins is simultaneously working on a docuseries focused on Kyle Bingham, the former director of OceanGate.
Justin MacGregor, the head of European content for the project, drew parallels between the OceanGate tragedy and the 1986 space shuttle Challenger disaster, emphasizing the profound impact such incidents have on our collective memory.
However, not everyone is on board with the film’s concept. Renowned director James Cameron, famous for his work on ‘Titanic’ in 1997, expressed strong reservations, stating, “It doesn’t usually respond to offensive rumors in the media, but I need to now.” Cameron unequivocally denied any involvement in an OceanGate film and ruled out future participation.
