The Gaza war, which started on October 7, 2023, has entered its 100th day, with no signs of a ceasefire or a diplomatic solution. The conflict has claimed the lives of more than 24,000 people, mostly civilians, and caused widespread destruction and suffering in the besieged coastal enclave.
The Hamas militant group, which controls Gaza, has claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on the Israeli army, destroying or damaging 1000 Israeli military vehicles and carrying out hundreds of operations against the occupation. The spokesman of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, Abu Obeida, said that the weapons they use are all locally made by Qassam.
He also said that the fate of many Israeli prisoners is unknown, as most of them were killed by Israeli bombardment, while the rest are in danger and the enemy is responsible for their fate.
On the other hand, Israel has claimed that out of the 24,000 killed in Gaza, nearly 9000 were militants. The Israeli army said that among the killed militants, there were 19 major generals and two brigadier generals.
The Gaza war has been the longest and deadliest in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, surpassing the 2014 war that lasted 51 days and killed more than 2200 people. The international community has repeatedly called for an end to the violence and a resumption of peace talks, but the efforts have been futile so far.
