Former PTI leader and current opposition member Pervaiz Khattak faced a barrage of pro-Imran Khan slogans from a crowd of PTI supporters in his hometown of Nowshera. Khattak, who was once a close ally of Khan and served as the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had left the party in 2022 after a rift with the prime minister over the provincial cabinet.
Khattak was attending a public rally in Nowshera on Saturday where he was met with a hostile reception from the locals, who chanted “kaun bacahye ga Pakistan, Imran Khan Imran Khan” in unison. Khattak seemed enraged by the display of loyalty to his former friend and tried to silence the crowd by reminding them of his familial ties. “Have some respect, I am your uncle,” he shouted, but to no avail. The crowd continued to mock him and his PDM allies, calling them “thieves” and “traitors”.
The incident was captured on video and soon went viral on social media, where users made fun of Khattak’s predicament and praised the PTI supporters for their unwavering devotion to Khan. Others wondered if Khattak would ever return to the PTI fold, or if he had burned his bridges for good.
