Founder of PTI, Imran Khan, has boldly announced that the upcoming Lahore rally will be a “do or die” moment for the party, warning that if the rally is obstructed, they will fill the jails in protest.
He also shared concerns about the country’s future, particularly in relation to the ongoing Afghan issue, stating that the nation’s destiny is at stake while they remain fixated on the Afghan consul.
During an informal conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, Khan stressed the need for thorough discussion on the matter of constitutional courts. He emphasized that the Supreme Court is the last institution in which people have faith, and if it’s destroyed, Pakistan will descend into a “banana republic.”
When asked by a journalist about his past endorsement of the Charter of Democracy, which included the establishment of constitutional courts, Khan replied, “Everything has its context. What was relevant then is not the same today.” He accused the current constitutional amendment of being solely aimed at saving Justice Qazi Faez Isa and expressed frustration over the secretive way in which these amendments are being pushed forward.
Khan fiercely criticized the idea of elevating Justice Isa to a constitutional court, calling those responsible for such decisions “dim-witted.” He further accused authorities of being scared, claiming he is always aware of their plans due to their actions. He insisted that such amendments should not take place under the cover of darkness and should involve thorough consultation.
Khan reaffirmed his party’s commitment to resisting any attempts to undermine the judiciary, stating, “They are trying to dismantle the Supreme Court.” He declared that his Lahore rally will be a defining moment and encouraged his party and the public not to fear jail, saying, “If they stop the rally, we will fill the jails.”
