PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Bar Council has strongly condemned Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s suggestion of Governor Raj in Sindh and dissolution of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government.
A statement issued by the Bar Council said that the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Sindh could lead to chaos in the country and will also harm the democratic process. The Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid had said in a statement yesterday that he had advised Prime Minister Imran Khan to impose Governor raj in Sindh.

The minister’s statement was strongly condemned by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other parties. Addressing a news conference, Sheikh Rashid hadclaimed that the prime minister has the constitutional power to impose governor rule in any province. The minister accused the PPP of forcing PTI lawmakers on “floor crossing” by offering them “bundle of notes”.
In response to the minister claims, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the unconstitutional move of the federal government to impose governor raj in Sindh will never be accepted. Shah warned that the people of the province will strongly react to this undemocratic of the federal government.
According to sources, Federal Ministry of Home Affairs has started efforts to prepare summary for Governor Raj. Home Ministry may soon send the summary to the Prime Minister. Shaikh Rashid Ahmed’s suggestion was also discussed in the cabinet meeting however, Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar opposed the move. But the Prime Minister Imran Khan responded that “let’s think about it.”
Yesterday, federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said, “The government will consider it. We are trying to allay the concerns of the allies but we will not bargain with anyone for money or ministries.”
