PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud has directed the health officials to expedite the vaccination process and warned to block SIM [Subscriber Identity Module] cards of those refusing to get vaccinated against the Covid-19 by 31 August.
The commissioner warned, “Mobile SIMs cards of those who have not been vaccinated in Peshawar division till August 31 will be blocked.” The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Riaz Khan Mehsud to discuss the vaccination process and the overall Coronavirus situation in Peshawar division on Friday. Mehsud urged to expedite the coronavirus vaccination process to curb the fourth wave of the virus. During the meeting, it was decided that the mobile SIMs of those who have not been vaccinated by August 31 will be blocked.
Commissioner Peshawar said that door-to-door mobile vaccination will be started from Today (21 August) and weekly leaves of health department and other concerned staff would be canceled to expedite the vaccination process.
The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) [federal committee on Covid-19] on Saturday reported 65 more deaths taking ahead the total number of deaths due to coronavirus across the country to 24,848. The NCOC also reported 3,084 more cases and taking forward the total number of the reported cases to 1,119,970 in Pakistan. According to the NCOC, 53,770 tested were conducted in the past 24 hours and positivity rate of 5.73% was reported.
During the 4th wave of Covid-19, for the first time, the positivity ration dropped below 6 per cent across the country. The NCOC officials said that the total number of people recovering from virus in Pakistan has reached more than one million. The report said that 3,027 people have recovered in the last 24 hours in the country, bringing the total number of people recovering from the pandemic to 1, 02,430. The recovery rate in Pakistan is maintained at 89.8%.
