PESHAWAR: Asad Umar, Federal Minister and head of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) [Federal committee on Covid-19], said that the fourth wave of the Coronavirus in Pakistan is on decline therefore restrictions in 18 districts have been relaxed.
But in six other districts, restrictions have been extended until September 30. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Asad Omar said, “Improvements have been noticed in 18 districts therefore, restrictions are being eased while it will intact in the remaining six districts.” These districts include Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Sargodha in Punjab and Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“Inter-district transport will completely be shut down and vans and buses are being allowed to run with 50 per cent passengers.” He said that the duration of the outdoor time for eating has been extended to midnight. Asad Omar said that the process of vaccination is being expedited and in major cities, people over age of 15 years have to get Pfizer vaccines. The minister said that Islamabad has become the first city in Pakistan to vaccinate 50% of the population against coronavirus.
Asad Omar said in a tweet on Sunday that “Islamabad has become the first city in Pakistan to vaccinate at least 50 per cent of its population (over 18 years of age).” He said that 71% of the population in Islamabad has already received one dose of coronavirus vaccine.
Meanwhile, The Peshawar district administration on 13 September sealed four private schools in the city for violating the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The administration said that Edwards College, the smart school, Fahim Model School and Iqra model school were shut down because of the SOPs violation.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health department has reported 20 more Covid-19 deaths and 292 cased across the province. The officials said that the Covid-19 positivity rate in Peshawar was 11% on Monday.
